From a small meeting in 1948 to Oregon’s leading bow hunting advocacy organization, we’ve been protecting and expanding your hunting privileges for over 75 years.
The Early Days
1930s – We helped establish Oregon's very first bow hunting season
1948 – During a Pope Young Archers meeting, we formed what was originally called the Oregon Field Archery Association
1952 – Changed our name to Oregon Bow Hunters
Building The Foundation
1974 – We fought to make compound bows legal in Oregon
1976 – Introduced bow hunter education to Oregon for the first time
1978 – We helped open the entire state of Oregon to bow hunting
Expanding Our Impact
1980s-1990s – Established indoor mail-in tournaments for winter months and created our "20" pin award system for Field Tournaments
